Excursion region
Why is a stay in Reinach worthwhile? As a significant suburban community, this town of almost 10,000 inhabitants offers nearly everything that makes urban life exciting. Yet it's surrounded by a hilly landscape with abundant nature and extensive forests – ideal for long hikes or bike tours. Fancy a swim in the romantic Lake Hallwil? It's just a short drive away. And why not explore the area with a relaxing boat trip?
For culture enthusiasts, there's a fantastic selection of regional attractions and museums. Hallwyl Castle in Seengen is one of Switzerland's most beautiful moated castles and is perfect for a family outing, as is Lenzburg Castle, not far away. Rose lovers should visit Heidegg Castle in Gelfingen. Those interested in painting should visit the Caspar Wolf Museum in Muri, which houses a permanent exhibition of the work of the most important Swiss landscape and Alpine painter of the 18th century. Another option is the Aargau Art Museum in Aarau, which boasts a comprehensive collection of Swiss art. For something a little more unusual, and perhaps all the more interesting for that reason, consider the Straw Museum in Wohlen or the Tobacco Museum in Menziken (please note the opening times!).
Besides swimming fun at the various bathing establishments on Lake Hallwil and the indoor and outdoor pool in Menziken, the following options are available for children: The Schongiland adventure park in Schongau (for children up to 12 years old) offers lots of fun and an all-weather toboggan run. Cinema 8 in Schöftland not only houses cinemas, but also a go-kart track and bowling.
Although you can easily spend a week in the beautiful Wynental valley and other areas of the canton of Aargau, a visit to the major Swiss cities is also highly recommended. Reinach is centrally located and therefore not far from major cities such as Zurich (1 hour drive), Lucerne (40 minutes), Bern (1 hour 20 minutes) or Basel (1 hour 15 minutes).
